Jim was an original member of the Langston Hughes Poetry Circle and its coordinator for 8 years. Moreno was the Poet In Residence for the Juvenile Court and Community Schools for 7 years and 11 months. He currently teaches poetry workshops at Writer's Ink, Young Audiences of San Diego, and The Queen Bee Art & Cultural Center. He is the author of "Dancing In Dissent: Poetry For Activism" (Dolphin Calling Press, 2007) and two cd's of poetry and music: "reversing the erased: exhuming the expunged", and "A Question From Love".Jim is the coordinator of the Jihmye Collins Memorial Homework Help Program at Malcolm X Library, a free tutoring program for children and teens in Valencia Park. Jim Moreno has a Masters degree and a Teaching English As A Foreign Language Credential (TEFL). He is the host of "2nd Tuesday Open Mic-Jihmye" at the Cafe Cabaret in Normal Heights. His open mic will soon be broadcast on KNSJ, 89.1 FM or KNSJ.org.
