**The Strawberry Festival is missing the best part!** p[link text][1]p

The first year The Vista Strawberry Festival was held the Business Association wisely invited a good many local growers. They set up on the Jr, High Soccer field and it was amazingly successful. People were given an opportunity to "discover" the best secret feature of Vista: the people that run the nurseries, growing grounds and greenhouses grow plants that grow here ... and the incredibly diverse and beautiful plants they produce. This was wildly successful and this little Eden was PACKED all day with people wheeling wagons-full of purchased plants to their cars so fast it was unbelievable. In fact, it was so successful the Vista Business Association felt it detracted from the Strawberry Festival and cancelled it in ensuing years! **BRING BACK THE GROWERS AND THEIR PLANTS!**
The Strawberry Festival lacks a sufficient number of actual strawberry related booths and events and needs help! It's really been sad since that first year. Vista is home to more greenhouses, growing grounds and nurseries per capita that anywhere else in the United States! Why aren't we celebrating that which makes us truly unique! Heck, strawberries grow everywhere in on the Coast in SoCal. We live in a Horticultural Wonderland - why not show it off? — March 21, 2013 7:34 p.m.

The tanda system of savings among Oceanside immigrants
Seems the *tanda* or *cundina* may have been introduced to Mexicans by the Chinese living around Pueblo a minute ago or so... and examples of them can be found all over the world. This kind of rotating credit association has helped hundreds of thousands of people to bootstrap their dreams. This is the kind of article that distinguishes The Reader from Dougie Manchester's would be media empire's double-talk rot. More please! When the man interviewed at the end of the article says "no se - I don't know" if I identify as American or Mexican it's because there is no short answer. -Sage in Vista— May 22, 2012 12:13 a.m.
