This tattoo is a memorial to my grandfather who passed away New Years day of 2013. Many of you might have heard him on the radio before, he was the well-known radio DJ, Dave Allen, of KGB. His real name was David James Zedaker. He lived in Point Loma with my grandma. When he wasn’t on the radio he was known as, “Poppa Z” to all, because he and my grandma made everyone feel like part of their family. He was always smiling, always listening to music and almost always wearing a beret. The microphone represents his long life of music loving, and working as a DJ. His red beret was one of his favorites he would wear on family outings or just around the house, and it would be rare to catch him with out his pipe and tobacco on hand. I got this tattoo shortly after he passed away as a tribute and memorial to him and to my family. He is and will be with me forever and that’s one of the most comforting thoughts in the world. My grandfather was the light of my life and I know he’s still shining bright and jamming out with the big guy upstairs.
