Historic photo of the VertiBowl at 7th & Orange in Coronado, CA. This pool had over 4' of vertical, hence the name... here I'm carving "over the light" on a borrowed Brewer deck with Bendependent (Independent) Trucks and Yellow Spyder Wheels, as described in my story "TRIX ARE FOR KIDS." Moments after this photo was taken, I pulled the first double grinder ever ripped in the VertiBowl... a harrowing ride also described in my story. You can see how gnarly the coping was too, which made any and all maneuvers at the lip even dicier in this heller vertical pool. The refinished pool still exists, sporting different tile and coping... perhaps one day it will be drained again, and a new generation of skaters will rise to grind the coping once more.
