Glen Galloway of Singing Serpent Studios has been playing with Sumatraban and Error Massage in the absence of Octagrape mate Jason Begin (the Donkeys), who relocated to New Mexico. Tyler Ward of Octagrape and Glen started writing for Sumatraban last spring and Preston Swirnoff of Freedom for Saturn joined on guitar/keys in June. They just finished recording a full-length with Ben Moore, to be released any day now. Error Massage started recording sound experiments (“mostly guitar, some processed keys, some hitting random resonant saturated things”) and mixing them as a “futurist homage to Eno’s batwing eagle-ear capture of the No New York sessions.” Two full-lengths were released late in 2016, one on Chocolate Monk and another on Tape Drift. A third release is in the queue, due out on an Italian cassette label. “A fiery gospel record is in the works as well. It should come into focus mid-2017, name and shape to be determined.”
