Free screening of Casablanca at Landmark Hillcrest

Hey, Turner Classic Movies! You must remember this: there is more to vintage cinema (and the vast holdings in the M-G-M/Warner Bros. vaults) than, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn," "We'll always have Paris," and "Toto, too."

As thrilled as I am that TCM is dusting off an older film for theatrical exhibition, every time there's an announcement of a nationwide revival of a classic, it's always the same damn 3 titles up for discussion: Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, and Gone With the Wind.

Now we're gettin' somewhere! The Film Daily, 3-22-46.

Just two years ago Casablanca received a nationwide re-release to honor it's 70th Anniversary. It is by no means a bad film, but there are hundreds, if not thousands of others I'd rather see on the big screen than the one Andrew Sarris rightfully dubbed a "happy accident."

Show A Night in Casablanca and I'm there.

If you are one of the 19 people out there who have never seen Casablanca, or one of the millions not fortunate enough to have seen it the way it was meant to be seen, here is your chance.
