City’s lobbying industry posted a record 2017

By most accounts, the city’s lobbying industry posted a record 2017 and is looking to double their take this year. Among top performers is the Clay Company, which picked up $18,000 in the fourth quarter from marijuana-delivery company Eaze Solutions, Inc., of San Francisco, to push for a “legal cannibus [sic] delivery platform,” per a February 13 disclosure filing.

Evans Hotels paid the firm a cool $19,000 to lobby its Bahia Resort hotel lease expansion on city-owned land at Mission Bay and trash hauler Republic Services coughed up $10,000 for Clay to meet with staffers for city-council Democrats Georgette Gómez and Myrtle Cole regarding the Sycamore Landfill master plan. In the giving-back department, the Clay Company’s Stephanie Saathoff hosted a November 3 fundraiser for councilwoman Lorie Zapf that came up with $3150 and solicited another $800 for the Republican at other “various events.”
