Film Forum: Sing Street

The last time Ralph DeLauro brought movies and music to the lives of his followers was at a screening of The Wrecking Crew held last November at the Central Library. It was one of the final presentations of his popular Film Forum screenings. A few weeks later — and after 31 years of dedicated service — the library called “cut” on Ralph’s series.

Ralph has been taking his show on the road of late, and September’s free monthly screening finds him at the Chula Vista Civic Center Library. Lord knows Sing Street won’t make this year’s Top Ten List, but any chance to point congregants in the direction of Brother Ralph’s Traveling Cinematic Salvation Show is worth taking.

The movie won’t be the evening’s only source of music. Before the show, 80’s-style rock band Kan-Kan can and will perform a mini-concert.

The event, sponsored by Friends of Chula Vista Library, takes place on Wednesday, September 14. The concert kicks off at 5:30 p.m. followed at 6 p.m. by Sing Street. Admission is free.
