Hipsters love public transit

Just don't expect to see them on a bus at 7 a.m.

Hipsters likely start work sometime between and 11:00 and 5:00

I just started a new internship downtown, and I ride the bus every day to get there. It’s actually a pretty good deal at $2.25 each way. I can’t help but notice that there are comparatively few young, hip bus riders during my morning commute. Why is that? I would think hipsters would be all about public transit, for the energy savings alone!

Hipsters totes love public transit. They can browse Instagram midcommute without causing a five-car pileup. If they’re into old-school hipster stuff, they might work through a Dave Eggers novel (remember when people used to read books?) while the rat racers fume in their cars on the freeway. The main reason you don’t see more hipsters during your morning commute is that the Venn diagram of your professional circles doesn’t include enough hipsters to populate that 7:00 a.m. bus. Hipsters in alternative careers are, (a), more likely to start work sometime between 11:00 and 5:00 and, (b), more likely to live within fixie distance of work.
