“I usually go to OB, but it’s mostly right-hand waves, so I go over to Pacific Beach, because it has waves for both right and left hands. I’m goofy, but I’m getting better with my right side.”

Taveria started surfing ten years ago and heads out to surf at least four or five times a week.

“This board is actually brand new. It’s a 5’8’’, 33-liter board so it’s pretty good for my size and it’s the dimensions that I want. The short board is used more for maneuvers. This one works well with the waves today. If the waves were too big, I’d need a bigger board to handle the pressure of the wave.”

Pacific Beach is not the 24-year-old’s main beach, Taveria heads to La Jolla, Windansea, and Cardiff, often before starting his work day.

“I’ll wake up at seven or eight and come on out for a couple of hours before work. I love it.”
