Notorious drug house goes up in flames

Home on Rancho Encinitas Drive has history of search warrants and arrests

Emergency personnel responded to reports of a fire at 3:45 a.m. yesterday at a home located at 1507 Rancho Encinitas Drive.

The home was known to law enforcement as the target of search warrants and arrests for drugs and other offenses on multiple occasions, most recently two weeks ago, on July 14. Neighbors had complained about strange goings-on at the address for years, according to authorities.

After the flames had been extinguished, a bomb/arson team began their investigation and subsequently found a body, according to a sheriff’s statement. “As they searched the house, they discovered an unknown deceased female in the second story of the house,” according to Lieutenant Mark Moreno.

As of this morning, July 31, the San Diego County Medical Examiner has declared the deceased person to be a 23-year-old female, who “was found in an upstairs bedroom.” The Medical Examiner stated that her “identity is yet to be confirmed.”

The reputed owner of the home, Anastasia Kirkeby, 49, is currently free on bond after her arrest last December. She was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest and meth possession, according to courthouse records. She is next scheduled to be in San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse on August 24, 2015.
