Y'all have seen All About Eve, right? [Um, if you haven't, spoilers ahead.] It's a classic backstage story of a fame-hungry woman who decides that her best bet is to learn how to act. But not onstage - no, the real acting comes long before the first audition. First, she learns how to act like a desperate, devoted follower of a popular actress. Then, after she's gotten in close, she learns how to imitate that actress - with the added benefit of youth. The onstage stuff is just what follows naturally from that initial performance.
