Opera Wednesday in La Jolla

When was the last time you were able to critique a critic?

Opera Wednesdays

Opera Wednesdays are starting this Wednesday at the La Jolla Community Center. As I’ve mentioned before, opera is not dead.

The lineup on Wednesday is strong and features a slew of accomplished singers. All of them are San Diego folks. Nic Reveles, current director of outreach at San Diego Opera, will be accompanying the concert from the piano.

The setting is relaxed. Some of the performers will be in blue jeans. As Stephanie Blythe said in our interview, “opera is for the people.” This is a non-elitist endeavor. This is opera for the people.

What’s on the menu? How about Carmen, Tosca, Madame Butterfly, Pagliacci, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Barber of Seville.

I should mention that I will be singing in this concert. While that’s not anything to get too excited about, when was the last time you were able to critique a critic?

The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. and takes place at the La Jolla Community Center on Wednesday, April 9.
