Bridesmaids director to produce animated Peanuts feature

Aaargh!

A scene from the upcoming Bridesmaids 2: I Married an Anthropomorphic Beagle!

To date, Paul Feig’s greatest contribution to film comedy has had nothing to do with bridesmaids or bumbling female cops. Am I the only one who made it all the way through I Am David, Feig’s hilariously inept episodic TV take on concentration camp "drama?"

"I Took a Dump in the Sink, Charlie Brown," coming soon from 20th Century Fox Animation.

Get ready for I Am Charlie as Feig, the man responsible for gifting American audiences with a pair of hard-R-rated Melissa McCarthy raunch-fests, has been chosen by 20th Century Fox Animation to “produce and oversee” a feature-length cartoon version of Charles M. Schultz’s Peanuts comic strip.

Deadline reports Steve Martino (Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who!, Ice Age: Continental Drift) will direct.

In a move that could put Snoopy in space, Feig referred to the Peanuts strip as "his Star Wars," adding, "I’m thrilled I finally get to be pals with Charlie Brown and Snoopy.”

Keep your eyes on this boy, Craig 'Son of Charles' Schulz. Don't let him do to your father's legacy what Disney and Jason Segal did to Frank Oz's Muppets.
