Valley Center Teacher Who Allegedly Hosted Drunken Teen Party May Not Appear in Court

A 56-year-old schoolteacher accused of hosting a drunken teen party this month may not have to appear in court.

Although Nancy Hildebrand was arrested just past midnight on June 12 on suspicion of supplying alcohol to teenagers, a spokesperson with the district attorney’s office stated, “Please note that on misdemeanor cases, defendants do not have to show up in person for the arraignment.” The DA’s communication director further stated, “Defendants are also allowed to enter a plea via fax.”

Hildebrand, who is a teacher at Valley Center Middle School, was arrested by Sheriff’s deputies at her Valley Center home on suspicion of supplying alcohol to minors and social host ordinance violations. These are misdemeanor charges, according to spokesman Steve Walker.

Hildebrand posted $1000 bail immediately after her arrest, and her arraignment is now set for July 28 at the Vista courthouse.
