“No bananas” missing a bunch (of words)

Please note that the printed edition of the San Diego Reader for this week (“No bananas”, Cover Story, September 14) had a duplication on pages 6 and 12. The same picture and articles appeared twice in the newspaper, but on two pages.

Blame music industry

I disagree with (“Noise is A Necessary Obscenity”, Cover Story, August 23) unless you are ‘another’ self-effacing sell-out to the many forms of cultural degradation and destruction that are permeating the world. Consideration of peoples’ needs and rights is something that makes a community and society work. For decades there has been a gradual process of people giving less and less respect for other.

Construction workers do not need to start jack hammers at 7 or 8 a.m. in a residential area full of people leading individual lives with different schedules.

Egotistical people do not need to force other people to listen to their loud and often obnoxious music especially at night. For example, plenty of ghetto rap is antisocial, egotistical, racist, sexist, and promotes violence, drugs and crime, such as what author Taleeb Stakes, a black author, calls ‘niggertivity’ in his book: The Uncivil War: Blacks vs. Niggers (an unvarnished and courageous book mincing no words). Truly, the music industry was promoting, decades ago, loud ghetto blasters.

When people play loud music and force their music onto other people who do not want to listen to it—it becomes a form of psychological domination and aggression because other people cannot listen to what they want to listen to, or think about what they want to think about in peace, or sleep, etc.

Yet this is what music industry has been promoting deliberately as a form of creating deliberate tension and divide-and-conquer strategies between the races.

This is just one more example of creating alienation and hostility between peoples while allowing the egotistical and immature free reign.

Assert your rights. Demand more from the low-class realities of the modern world.

The worst streets

We have the worst city streets in the entire United State (even people from other parts of CA, out of town and even other countries have commented on this). How can this happen? Whoever is in charge of this must be using the cheapest, cruddiest asphalt ever created. Maybe they should use the same stuff they use in the Midwest or the East Coast. The occasional asphalt shellacking does nothing for our streets and they are worse than most Third World countries.

It is inexcusable dribble and somebody is making a lot of money for allowing our streets to corrode away like this and pretending nobody notices this. Well, I have news for you, everybody that lives here has noticed this. I have lived around the San Diego area for approximately 35 years and right now, it is the worst it's ever been.
