Manganista makes rock music with an island vibe. They have a new EP called Hillbilly Bomb Shelter that they’ll be showcasing in Ocean Beach. The all-ages bill includes Proctor Valley Monsters (named after a Bigfoot-type creature said to roam near Proctor Valley Road near Otay Lakes) and local pop-punk band The Calvins.

San Diego Music Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony performers/inductees include jazz pianist Mike Wofford. classical guitarist and teacher Fred Benedetti, world percussionist Monette Marino, violinist Jamie Shadowlight, and 2023 San Diego Music Award Artist of the Year Jeff Berkley. Tribute will be paid to singer-songwriter Mary Dolan, who passed away in 2022. Also performing will be singer Lisa Sanders and hip-hop humorist Rob Deez.

Storytelling duo Berkley Hart features Jeff Berkley, who also runs a local recording studio, and longtime musical partner Calman Hart. They’ve opened for everyone from Bob Dylan and Ramblin’ Jack Elliott to Paul Simon and David Wilcox. They’ll celebrate a quarter century together with a matinee 25th Anniversary Show in Oceanside.

SM Familia at The Holding Company Nov 4

SM Familia is a Latin reggae, funk and cumbia band with a full horn section who were nominated in 2014 by the San Diego Music Awards for Best World Album. They’ve opened for major reggae acts such as Cultura Profetica and Residente, as well as being the backing band for Sister Nancy, Michael Palmer, Eek A Mouse. The bill includes Jah Ollin and Layne.

Deap Vally at the Casbah Nov 10

LA duo Deap Vally, featuring San Diegan Lindsay Troy, has released four albums and three EPs, as well as working on collaboration like their team-up with The Flaming Lips, Deap Lips, which debuted with a single for “Home Thru Hell.” Currently on what they’re billing as a farewell tour, their OB set will feature them playing their 2013 debut album Sistrionix in its entirety. Also appearing will be LA rock band Death Valley Girls.
