Mike Keneally

Former Frank Zappa band guitarist Mike Keneally has a new album called The Thing That Knowledge Can’t Eat, with one track called “Celery” that features guitar solos recruited from Steve Vai. “You’ll know which of the solos are him when you hear them, he’s kinda recognizable,” says Keneally. The video for “Celery” is an excerpt from Finnish director Mikko Keinonen’s upcoming short film The Complete Adventures of the Unrelated Sound Guy.

Dead Cross

Founding Dead Cross drummer Dave Lombardo has teamed up with his wife, Canadian born singer/songwriter and pianist Paula Lombardo, to launch a new band called Venamoris. “Several months after meeting Paula in 2010, she hesitantly shared with me her past decade-long career as the lead backup singer for Wayne Newton,” says Lombardo. “She later played me some of the demos she recorded throughout the years…I was determined to persuade her to return to her creative self.”

The Trebels

The Trebels were a mod-inspired 1980s garage rock and R&B band based in Imperial Beach. Their name was inspired by a Tijuana group called the Trebles whose guitarist Tio Chato gave lessons to a founding Trebel.
