Rebecca Jade (Siren’s Crush) was the singer for Super Magnetic when that band won the 2010 Ultimate Music Challenge at Viejas Casino. She released her debut album the following year. Her band Rebecca Jade & the Cold Fact earned a 2014 San Diego Music Award for Best Blues Album. Jade topped the list of 2022 San Diego Music Awards nominees with five nominations, winning for Best R&B, Funk or Soul Song and Best Video, both for her track “What’s It Gonna Be.” She appears August 31 at La Valencia in La Jolla.

Anthony Cullins at Music Box Sept 1

Guitarist Anthony Cullins, aka the Fallbrook Kid, was still attending Mission Vista High School in Oceanside when he started playing blues rock gigs at venues like House of Blues, Pala Mesa Resort, Valley Fort Steak House, Temecula Music Festival, and Fallbrook Brewery. He won the “10 Under 20” contest at the 2018 Dallas International Guitar Festival and was the subject of a Backstage 360 documentary. The September 1 bill in Little Italy includes Helena Holleran.

Daring Greatly at Descanso Junction Sept 2

Fronted by brothers Patrick and Liam Croome , Daring Greatly describes their music as blood harmony rock. Nominated Best Rock Artist at the 2022 San Diego Music Awards, the group recently released a new album called Grid Valley, named for a small town in Fallbrook, in North San Diego County. The Descanso venue hosting the band on September 2 welcomes dogs on leashes.

Manual Scan at the Casbah Sept 2

The Secret Society Scooter Club 40th Anniversary concert in Little Italy will be headlined by one of the longest running San Diego mod groups, Manual Scan. Fronted by lifelong scooter driver Bart Mendoza, the band formed in the early 1980s, touring extensively throughout California and Arizona as well as England, Spain, and Mexico. Also appearing will be 16 Again and The Others.

Astra Kelly at Studio West Sept 8

Astra Kelly describes her upcoming tenth studio album Soul Fires as “folk rock bitten by the south.” In advance of the digital release, the songs will available on CD, download card, private streaming link, and vinyl. The album debuts September 8 at Studio West in Rancho Bernardo. Her full band will perform, including Joshua Taylor on guitar, Sandi King on vocals, Harley Magsino on bass, and Tony Econom on drums, plus guests Jeff Berkley and Cathryn Beeks.
