Acid attack in O.B.?

Michael said he was at the intersection of Cape May Avenue and Bacon Street in Ocean Beach on Friday afternoon (October 20th), when a woman followed him in her van, pulled out a water gun, and sprayed him with a caustic substance.

“If I wasn't wearing sunglasses, it would have [gone in my eyes] and I would have had to go to the ER. I was lucky,” he told me.

“I was just passing her on Cape May — she was to the right of me, looming like she was about to pick someone up, doing about five to ten miles per hour, so I drove around her and that's when she started tailing me….

“She followed me in her van to the next block, into my friend’s alley…. I saw her following so I tried to go into a driveway to yank a U-turn really quick to get away from her but she almost rammed my car and cornered me in the driveway.”

That’s when Michael said she pulled out a water gun and sprayed him with an acid-like substance.

“She pointed the water gun out her window and sprayed me from, like, 12 feet away,” he said. “Immediately, I felt it was burning and not just a normal water gun filled with water, so I followed her to get her license plate….

“[The gun] was filled with a neon-blue substance that immediately started bubbling when it touched me and my car; it already took off some paint on my car and discolored my interior and burned my neck and anything that touched it. It spread right away…the burning lasted a few hours but I’m still in a lot of pain.”

Michael said he called 911 and filed a police report, but he did not seek medical attention.

He described the attacker as an "African American woman, driving a crappy white mini-van, maybe an old Ford, scrawny, and wearing a towel turban on her head."
