February 7

— HP responded to an adrift dinghy near the Shelter Island Launch Ramp. The dinghy was taken to the HPD impound dock.

February 6

— HP issued a citation to a boater who was illegally anchored in the A-1 Anchorage in La Playa Cove.

— HP Issued a citation to a boater who was docked at the HPD Guest slips without a valid permit.

— HP responded to the 24th Street Marine Terminal for an accident that occurred onboard a car carrier ship. One of the employees of the ship received some injuries during the process of unloading vehicles. They were taken to the hospital and treated.

February 5

— HP issued a citation to a boater who was illegally anchored in the A-5 Anchorage in Glorietta Bay.

February 4

— HP responded to a vessel operating in circles near the Shelter Island Basin. HP found the two occupants were partially intoxicated and in a domestic dispute. The incident was found to be verbal only and was documented. One of the subjects opted to leave the vessel for the night putting an end to the issue.

February 3

— HP responded to a domestic violence incident aboard a vessel in Glorietta Bay. The incident was found to be verbal only and the subjects were separated for the night.

February 2

— HP responded to a vessel fire in the California Marina, Chula Vista. During their response, a Good Samaritan (neighbor) heard the alarm inside the vessel and extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. HP and Chula Vista Fire ensured the fire was out and found the cause to be a faulty electrical system in the vessel’s circuit panel.

January 30

— HP responded to an adrift vessel near Harbor Island. The vessel was recovered by the HP vessel crew and then towed by Tow Boat US to the South Bay Storage.

— HP responded to the G Street Mole (Commercial fishing docks) where a fishing net was on fire. The large net was on top of the concrete pier and was fully engulfed in flames. A Good Samaritan attempted to put the fire out but was unable, due to the intense heat. SDFD and HP extinguished the fire and together are investigating this as an arson case. Damage to the net is approx. $250,000.00.

— HP responded to an accident involving two jet skis in north SD Bay. The two inexperienced operators collided with one another while jumping a wake causing minor injuries and damage to the rented skis.

January 28

— HP responded to two jet skis that were both sinking and the operators were in the water. It was found that one of the skis was recently worked on when it began sinking. The other ski began towing the submerged ski and also began to sink. HP towed the two submerged skis to land and there were no injuries.

— HP documented a report of damage involving a vessel breaking free in the storms and striking the nearby rocks in the A-3 Anchorage.
