Speeding Jetski rider hits shoal, gets ejected

May 27

— HP responded to South Bay for a Jet Ski collision. It was found that the operator of the Jetski was unfamiliar with the area and struck a shoal / sand bar which immediately ejected him over the handlebars causing injuries to his ribs. The operator was also in violation of speed restrictions in South Bay.

May 25

— HP unit dispatched to an adrift dinghy near Americas Cup Harbor. HP located the dinghy and stored it at the HPD impound dock.

May 24

— HP located a capsized submerged small dinghy at the entrance to SD Bay. HP salvaged the dinghy and stored it at the HPD Impound dock.

May 23

— HP was dispatched to the area of the public dock in Americas Cup Harbor for a vessel theft. The runabout dinghy had its lock and cable cut and was taken from the area. HPD has video of the area and are further investigating.

May 22

— HP Issued a citation to a boater in north SD Bay for a registration violation.

May 21

— HP was dispatched to an abandoned sailboat attached to the Shelter Island Launch ramp. HP impounded the abandoned vessel and after researching video and further investigations have information on owner as he will be liable for the crime, impound fees and could also be liable / financially charged for all the time and assets used.
