Lemon Grove lady ran a tax scam while awaiting sentencing for earlier one

She gets 14.5 years in prison for the capers

Lemon Grove's Cynthia Lozano was sentenced to 175 months in prison today (July 12) for running two complex tax and identity theft scams. She ran the second one while awaiting sentencing for the first one.

She would file false tax returns for people who were unaware their names and Social Security numbers were being used. Refunds were directed to bank accounts in the names of her associates and relatives. She was indicted in 2013 and pleaded guilty two years later.

In mid-2015, while she was awaiting sentencing, the Internal Revenue Service discovered she was still pulling the same scam with new victims.
