California assemblyman Adam Gray picked up a free meal worth $160.23 at the Barona gambling tribe’s resort in Lakeside on June 30. Fellow Democrat Marc Berman settled for a $14.87 meal and a free $137.50 transit tab for a ride with limo operator Epic Transportation June 9.

Locked in a bitter battle to protect its lucrative electrical utility monopoly here, San Diego–based Sempra Energy has been devoting significant resources to influencing politicos. Loren Logan, a legislative analysis manager at San Diego Gas & Electric, spent $4527 worth of her time related to lobbying, according to the giant utility’s state lobbying disclosure of July 28. Rhiannon Davis, clean energy policy manager at SDG&E, devoted a period valued at $6892, the filing says.
