October 12

0827 Medical: Traumatic injuries at west Mission Bay Drive on a 50y/o male. LG Special events and Medic 78 responded. Medic 78 handled the call.

— 09:20 Boating: Vessel left at the dock at south shores boat ramp. Vessel was towed by vessel assist and owner needed to pick up their vehicle and trailer. 4 Sam aware of the situation.

— 16:32 Medical: 29y/o male c-spine injury at Mission Beach, head vs. bottom. LG’s, Fire and medics responded. Patient AMA with Fire and medics.

October 11

— 08:37 Enforcement: Unattended inflatable vessel underneath the Scripps Pier. UCSDPD and Border Patrol handle.

— 10:04 Enforcement: Report of person beating their dog at Dog Beach OB. Lifeguards request SDPD and Animal Control, Animal Control cites and release.

— 13:16 Medical: Stingray victim at Blacks Beach, Lifeguards treat and UCSDPD provides ride back to campus.

— 14:17 Swimmer: Mass rescue off Little Rock Jetty. A lifeguard rescue vessel responds, OB calls clear with units on scene incl Jet unit.

— 14:49 Medical: Medics requested to Shores tower for a 20 y/o male with an injury to his hand from a surfboard skeg. Patient AMA’s with fire.

— 15:22 Medical: Medics requested to Brighton St. for a 40 y/o male with a pulled hamstring. Medics transports to Scripps La Jolla.

— 17:02 Medical: Stingray patient at Blacks Beach, lifeguards respond and treat and release.

— 17:44 Enforcement: Possible battery at Tourmaline, lifeguards respond and parties clear.

— 20:44 Boating: Report of a green flare 500 yards off of Pescadero. LG unit responds via land and a lifeguard rescue vessel respond via sea. Multiple boats in the area LG declares false alarm.

September 30

— HP responded to Humphrey’s Marina for a vessel on fire. HP extinguished the fire and managed to stop the fire from spreading to other vessels next to it. The vessel was a total loss and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

— HP investigated an accident involving a subject that was ejected from his small boat. The boat then continued straight until it struck a barrier fence around the Naval Submarine Base. The vessel then began going in circles. Vessel Assist arrived and were able to stop the vessel.

— HP responded to a vessel fire in South SD Bay involving a large sailboat. Upon arriving on scene, the vessel was fully engulfed in flames. HP extinguished the fire and towed it a short distance to the S. Bay Marine Group Boat Yard, where the National City Fire Dept. assisted further. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

— 07:33 Swimmer: Person pulled from water at Windansea. Victim is a 34 y/o male with a right lower leg injury. LG unit responds with Fire. Medic rescue transport patient to Thornton.

— 15:12 Medical: LG unit responds to a 37 y/o female with a stingray sting, bleeding is controlled. Victim treated and transported to the top for self-treatment.

— 15:41 Medical: 24y/o female head vs. bottom at PB tower. LG’s, Fire and Medics respond. Medics transport to Scripps La Jolla.

— 16:16 Medical: Foot injury at Black’s beach on a 34 y/o female. City and State LG’s respond. Patient treated by LG’s at Blacks and released.

— 17:38 Medical: Male altered possibly intoxicated off Tourmaline. Victim is a 47y/o male. LG’s and Fire responds. Medics transports victim to Scripps La Jolla.

— 17:49 Boating: Stalled vessel disabled in the channel. Vessel is a 27ft. Maxim, all white. Two LG rescue boats respond, vessel towed to reception dock where vessel assist takes over the tow.

— 18:50 Medical: 30y/o male unconscious at the foot of Del Monte. LG’s and Fire respond. Fire on scene handles the call and cancels. SDFD remains at scene.

San Diego Lifeguards are a 24 hour rescue agency whose responsibilities include water rescue, boat rescue, marine fire suppression, coastal cliff rescue, underwater search and recovery, swift water and flood search, rescue and emergency medical response. San Diego Lifeguards also handle enforcement of city, state and federal laws and regulations. Lifeguards are classified as peace officers with the power of arrest.
