Bike 7, 50, or 100 miles to Oceanside

Bike the Coast/Taste the Coast this Saturday

Oceanside Pier bike-ride after-party

This Saturday, November 5, some 2400 bike riders will be pedaling their way along the coast or up the San Luis Rey River in the Bike the Coast/Taste the Coast Ride and Exposition at Oceanside Pier. For the riders, there are several choices; from a 7-mile ride along the San Luis Rey River bike path to a 100-mile two-lap trip from Oceanside down through the beach communities of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Del Mar and back up to the pier.

The San Luis Rey route has no vehicular traffic once on the bike path. The 25-mile course runs along Highway 101 south to Encinitas while the 50-mile course runs on down to Del Mar before skirting inland along Torrey Pines Golf Course and back to Oceanside. The 100-mile course is the same route as the 50, but two laps. The races begin in the early morning and the 100-mile doesn’t wrap until late afternoon.
