Sunset gunfire with a side of stabbing in O.B.

Sh**heads shoot and shiv on the seashore

Crime scene tape across Santa Cruz Avenue at Bacon Street

Tuesday night’s sunset in Ocean Beach was interrupted by a gunshot and stabbing after an altercation broke out at Santa Cruz Cove.

“I could see it out my window,” wrote resident Jeremy Borum on Facebook. “A bunch of little gangbangers were arguing and one stabbed another in the hand then took off running. Helicopter was here in less than a min.”

San Diego police spokesman Travis Easter confirmed they received a 911 call of reported “gunshots” at 7:18 p.m. on May 24. When officers arrived, they found one victim who had been stabbed in the hand but no one had been shot.

“[The victim and others involved] disappeared against the sea wall and when the guy came back into view his hand/wrist was cut pretty bad,” continued Borum. “When the officers showed up, everyone pointed toward Del Monte [Avenue] like the guy ran that way. The cop held his cut, then took him up the stairs.”

The victim was transported to UCSD Hospital and one suspect, Julio Marquez, 25, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to Officer Easter. The gun was recovered in the bushes along Bacon Street.
