We rank sixth highest among large cities, 11th overall

San Diego is one of the most diverse cities in the United States, according to a new study by WalletHub, a firm that keeps statistics on cities, metro areas, and states.

The city is 11th most diverse among 313 cities and 6th most diverse among large cities — topped only by Oakland, New York, San Jose, Anaheim, and Sacramento. Overall, Gaithersburg, Maryland, is the most diverse among all cities.

The study measures a city's diversity in household income, educational attainment, ethno-racial composition, language, region of birth, occupations, marital status, age, and household size.
