The Ben Wanicur Trio with Ian Tordella and Charlie Weller host the jam session at 3rd Space (4610 Park Boulevard) from 8 to 11 p.m. for a $5 cover… Lorraine Castellanos and Ed Kornhauser continue at the Lot from 7 to 10 p.m. No cover.

AACM founding member Roscoe Mitchell comes to UC San Diego’s Experimental Theater (9500 Gilman Drive) at 7 p.m. appearing with Anthony Davis, Mark Dresser, Nicole Mitchell, Stephanie Richards, and Mike Reed. General admission is $15.50; UCSD students free… Gilbert Castellanos has two gigs at Panama 66 (1450 El Prado) beginning when he hosts the Young Lions Series at 6 p.m., then continuing when he leads the jam session from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. No cover charge, all-ages, musicians bring your horns!
