Tour the Academy Film Archive with MoPA

The Museum of Photographic Arts invites you to spend a day in Hollywood walking through the extensive picture collections at the Academy Film Archive. Established in 1991, the Archive currently houses 190,000 items including an extensive gathering of publicity stills.

A preservation expert will act as your tour guide sharing an insider’s perspective of the screening room, nuances of film preservation, and more.

The centerpiece of the visit is the exhibition Jeff Bridges: Set Tour. Bridges began shooting behind-the-scenes production stills during the making of Starman in 1984. He would assemble the photos in a small book that he would pass out to cast and crew members at the wrap party.

Loretta Ayeroff, Director of the Jeff Bridges Photography Archive will be on hand to offer insight and field questions. The group meets behind the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center at 8:30 am on December 16. They expect to make it back to San Diego by early evening, but it’s a Friday and I-5 will no doubt be a parking lot.

Tickets are $150 and that includes a “dining experience” prior to your return. May I suggest Chili John’s in Burbank? It’s the best bowl of beans you’ll ever eat.
