PB hotel rooms more expensive than Del Mar's?

And more than Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica?

Of all the pricey spots along the coast to choose for a summer vacation, San Diego's Pacific Beach ranks as the costliest beach town in California for visitors, according to a new survey released by LosAngelesHotels.org.

At an average $267 nightly stay, the neighborhood known locally as a nightlife hotspot for twentysomethings tops the Los Angeles beach towns of Marina Del Rey ($265) and Santa Monica ($259), even trumping local high-society destinations such as Coronado ($232) and Del Mar (at $194, not even among the 10 costliest destinations).

Rankings were established by averaging nightly rates of a double-occupancy room during the tourist-heavy month of August, and hotels with an industry ranking lower than three stars or not in close proximity to a beach access point were excluded.
