A “misoneist” hates anything new or novel, but since hipsters often stay current by appropriating vintage memes, the word doesn’t seem quite right. According to my copy of Plato Names Your Obscure Indie Band: Ancient Grammar for Hipsters, a “miscontrapopulist” would hate those who reject mainstream stuff. If there are any classical scholars out there reading Ask a Hipster and who might want to weigh in here, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for!
