Doshay allegedly used bunny story on 5-year-old

Jack Henry Doshay, 22, was informed of ten felony charges against him, his bail was doubled to $5 million, and he was immediately taken back into custody yesterday, September 2, 2015.

Previously, Doshay had pleaded not guilty to three charges: kidnapping of a child, false imprisonment, and felony child abuse, in connection with a March 23, 2015, incident. Doshay was accused of taking hold of a seven-year-old girl at Skyline Elementary School in Solana Beach. In that incident, the offender allegedly wrapped tape around a child’s face and head and was taking her to a secluded area of the school when the girl was able to break free and run away screaming.

Doshay, reportedly the son of Glenn and Karen Doshay of Fairbanks Ranch, was able to make bail on April 11, after a fee of $200,000 was paid to guarantee his $2.5 million bond.

New charges

On September 2, prosecutor Ryan Saunders informed a judge that he was able to get an indictment on ten charges from a grand jury last week, after he brought forward new evidence against Doshay.

Some of the new charges include lewd acts on a child with force, kidnap with sexual intent, and a charge of multiple victims. The maximum prison time if Doshay is convicted of all current charges is 50 years to life in prison, according to prosecutor Saunders.

Some of the new charges are connected to an incident that allegedly happened in September of 2010, according to the prosecutor. After the San Diego County Sheriff set up a tip line and asked for the public’s help following the March 2015 incident, the family of a girl who was allegedly assaulted at another elementary school in Solana Beach contacted law enforcement. “We know that he lived up the street,” prosecutor Saunders said on September 2.

Devil in the details

The prosecutor described the alleged circumstances of the 2010 incident: a five-year-old girl on a baseball field at Solana Santa Fe elementary school (where Jack Doshay reportedly went to elementary school) saw the defendant behind a shed there. The man allegedly lured the girl to the shed.

“He told her there was a white bunny underneath the shed,” the prosecutor claimed. “She got down to see the white bunny, the defendant then came up behind her, grabbed her by her hips, turned her around, sat her down, unbuttoned her pants, unzipped her pants, tried to remove her pants.” The prosecutor said that the girl screamed “and kicked him where it hurt” and was able to run away.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged five-year-old victim chose two possible suspects from photos that were shown to her, one of whom was Doshay.

Here comes Pfingst

Defense attorney Paul Pfingst protested on September 2 that, “My client is on psychological medications.” Pfingst claimed that these meds should not be “interrupted” and he asked the judge to delay raising bail or taking Doshay back into custody.

Judge K. Michael Kirkman doubled the $2.5 million bail to $5 million bail, and deputies handcuffed Doshay and took him back into custody. His next court date is set for December 14, 2015.
