Inon Barnatan

La Jolla is keeping the classical music going on Friday, March 6, with three quality concerts covering all of “The Three Bs”. Of course, “The Three Bs” are Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, but we’re also able to add Barber and Barnatan to the list.

Pianist Inon Barnatan will be giving a solo piano concert of Beethoven, Brahms, Franck, and Barber at Sherwood Auditorium on Friday, March 6, at 8 p.m.

Although the concert could be Bach, Franck, Barber, and Schubert — there are conflicting notices. I only bring it up because without Beethoven in this concert we lose a "B."

Musica ad Rhenum: Evening with Bach

Bach also gets his own concert. Of the “Three Bs”, Beethoven is on the fringe here. The Bach concert is at St. James by the Sea Episcopal Church and has a great mix of Bach’s music. There are two cantatas for solo soprano, a cello suite, and Orchestral Suite No. 2 for strings and flute.

The performance is by a group called Musica ad Rhenum. They were founded in 1992, have played internationally, and have made a dozen or so recordings.

There we have it: a busy Friday night in La Joll, full of a variety of music.
