The 2016 contest between Joel Anderson and Dianne Jacob has begun.

As first reported here last month, GOP assemblyman Joel Anderson filed a December 23 declaration saying he intended to run for county supervisor in 2020 for the seat now held by fellow Republican Dianne Jacob. That revelation was shortly followed by the February 4 announcement of Anderson’s switch to run next year, pitting him against Jacob, who is expected to seek a final four years on the board before she is termed out.

Anderson’s 2020 — now 2016 — campaign committee spent the final week of last year raising $33,975 from an array of the assemblyman’s East County pro-development faithful, a recent disclosure shows. East County developer Greg Lansing and wife Laine each gave $700, as did Santee’s Jeep Tharp, vice president of equipment operations at TC Construction.

Other $700 donors included Carolyn Sandoval, a “construction clerical” for general contractor Ennis, Inc., and Russell Rodvoid, a truck driver at Alpine Rock and Block. Robert Segni of Segni Construction came up with $500, as did Jim and Laura Nelson at Cass Construction.
