One San Diego bad boy sentenced, one released

Alfred Louis "Bobby" Vassallo, perpetrator of telecom scams, was sentenced to a year and a day in prison in federal court in the Central District of California on August 24. The onetime La Jollan had peddled a telecom scheme (one of many he concocted) in French Polynesia but didn't tell his victim that he owed $2 million on another scam that the Securities and Exchange Commission had nailed him on.

Meanwhile, Harold (B.J.) Gallison was released from jail on $1.79 million bond for his role in a pump 'n' dump stock-market scam. He was previously incarcerated for a penny-stock scam. Among the conditions imposed by a Virgina magistrate judge was GPS monitoring and securing of a home in California. He was arrested in mid-July in his Valley Center home.
