UCSD is looking for a new chief for its Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies. “The Director will design, plan and execute a strategic vision for the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies,” says a recent online job notice, “elevating the visibility of USMEX within the San Diego-Tijuana bi-national region and more broadly in policy and academic circles in Mexico and the US.”

A top priority is serving as a “primary liaison” to “corporations, foundations, and individual donors interested in supporting the Center’s work.” The new director will report to Peter Cowhey, dean of the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies. The prior director, Alberto Diaz-Cayeros, has moved on to become an associate professor at Stanford.
