San Diego Zoo readies pugnacious pachyderms for War Elephant exhibit

"Your move, SeaWorld."

"The San Diego Zoo is a city institution," said Zoo Director of Mammalian Armory Walter Tusk. "SeaWorld, on the other hand, is a relative Johnny Come Lately, owned by an out-of-town corporation. So why does Mayor Faulconer make a big fuss about their 50th anniversary and declare this SeaWorld month? I'll tell you why: entertainment and publicity. Thanks to SeaWorld's controversial use of potentially violent killer whales in its animal shows, the whole world is paying attention, and Faulconer is getting in on that action. How are we supposed to compete? I'll tell you how. We're gonna stage some animal shows of our own, shows where the violence isn't so much potential as integral. This is gonna be epic."
