The big-money brawl between Bill Horn and Jim Wood for county supervisor has begun.

The race by Republican county supervisor Bill Horn to hold on to his seat against a challenge by Oceanside mayor Jim Wood is off with a financial bang, with backers of both sides lining up big funding for hefty TV and mail drives. Latest big-money players include the Service Employees International Union Local 221’s “Citizens Against Career Insider Politician Bill Horn for Supervisor 2014,” which reported spending a total of $17,275 on canvassing, polling, and door hangers on April 7. On April 20, the county Republican Party rolled into the race with $8500 worth of “member communications.”
