Drive-thru at SDG&E payment center closes willy-nilly

Disabled and moms most inconvenienced

The San Diego Gas & Electric payment and customer service center at 436 H Street in Chula Vista has a habit of closing their drive-thru bill-payment window on the side of the building unannounced. Mothers with carloads of young children and disabled individuals prefer the drive-thru method, yet most of the time they are forced to park their cars and traipse into the building and wait in line for assistance.

On Monday, December 31, the drive-thru window opened up promptly at 9:00 a.m. and took two payments from waiting automobiles; then the window was shut and the closed sign went up. Meanwhile, about six or so drivers waited in line behind the lucky two cars who managed to get service.

I called a manager at SDG&E who apologized when I told her how poorly run that office is. She explained that "lack of personnel forces the window to close" sometimes.
