Murdoch and Bren Contribute

Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Group gave $1000 to the reelection bid of liberal San Diego Democratic assemblywoman Toni Atkins on December 22. Meanwhile Orange County’s Irvine Company, owned by Republican billionaire Donald Bren, stepson of the late Oscar-winning movie star Claire Trevor, gave big to two San Diego business causes last year, according to his recently filed major donor statement. The firm, which owns substantial real estate in the county, including several downtown office towers, gave $25,000 to the San Diego Lodging Industry Political Action Committee and $5000 on October 17 to the San Diego Jobs PAC.
