Shortcuts: Take Autoport Mall Road to Avoid All the Lights

Where? UCSD to La Jolla

Cheapest gas? Any Costco.

What’s wrong with your car? Nothing…I love it!

Listen to when driving? Michael Savage or 760 AM, 1090 AM, 100.7 FM, 94.9 FM, and 103.7 FM.

Cell phone? Yes, on speaker or Bluetooth. Don’t want to be one of those idiots that try and hide it with their hand. If someone’s doing something stupid on the road, chances are they are on a cell phone.

Hitchhikers? No! Ever heard of “Hitchhiker Joe,” by the Rugburns? [“Don’t pick up Hitchhiker Joe/ He’ll slit your throat/ And cut off your big toe, I tell you/ He’ll make you smile/ From ear to ear/ Gonna lock you in a trunk/ For 99 years/ Don’t do it now…”]

Speeding tickets? About 15 years ago. I was caught going 55 in a 50. Now the limit there is 55...I’m pissed!

Accidents? No. Hundreds of thousands of miles accident-free.

Worst Traffic? Sorrento Valley on-ramp to Highway 5 south in the morning, during the week.

Most changed streets? Not sure.

Favorite drive? Driving practically anywhere. Driving through North Dakota was the most memorable. Locally, I would say Highway 78 through Julian.

Least favorite? Driving anywhere through L.A. No matter what time of day or day of the week, there’s a traffic backup somewhere in that city!

Shortcut? You can take the Autoport Mall road to get to Miramar Road or Genesee instead of La Jolla Village Drive to avoid all the lights.
