EdVoice Backs Republican Party

The EdVoice Independent Expenditure Committee, whose parent EdVoice has been backed by wealthy charter school advocates such as Los Angeles billionaire Eli Broad and San Diego investor Buzz Woolley, gave $25,000 to the Republican Party of San Diego County on October 20…San Diego County Democrats received a $1000 contribution from the Vista Firefighters PAC on October 20. More intriguing, however, was the San Diego party’s donation of $15,000 to the assembly campaign of Fran Florez, running in the 30th District, hundreds of miles north of San Diego County in the southern Central Valley; the district includes the cities of Bakersfield, Kettleman City, and Weed Patch and the counties of Fresno, Kern, Kings, and Tulare.

Then, on October 25, the San Diego Democrats collected $5000 from the Chula Vista Police Relief Association and gave $20,000 to the Re-Elect Joan Buchanan for Assembly campaign. She represents Northern California’s District 15, including San Ramon and Livermore…Meanwhile, according to a recent invitation, convicted securities lawyer Bill Lerach and wife Michelle “will host the La Jolla Democratic Club winter holiday party at their beautiful home in the La Jolla Farms area just west of UCSD.”
