Clinton’s minions

Now that Hillary Clinton has finally bowed out of the Democratic presidential race, the bets placed by local contributors can be tallied. Perhaps the biggest loser is Lynn Schenk, an ex-aide to then-governor Jerry Brown and former congresswoman, who was Clinton’s key San Diego fund-raiser (called a “Hill raiser” in Clinton-speak). During February’s California primary, Schenk also served as one of Clinton’s “rapid responders,” “a group of truth tellers who will respond to inaccurate or misleading attacks” on Clinton and husband Bill, according to a press release of the time. (Schenk is not entirely out of the money; she was recently named to the board of utility giant Sempra Energy.) Other losers include failed city attorney candidate Scott Peters and his wealthy wife Lynn Gorguze, who maxed out to Clinton. However, all is not lost: the couple hedged their bets by also contributing to Barack Obama.
