"No one takes San Diego [rappers] seriously," says Nasty O of National City, one of the four men in Sky Tower Click. "People [outside of SD] think San Diego rap revolves around gangsters. Many rap artists in San Diego are gang-related.... Club owners are afraid of someone getting shot or stabbed. It makes it hard for musicians who make real music."

Other rap artists lament that only a handful of local venues occasionally present local, unsigned hip-hop artists. Former punk promoter Phil Wasted recognizes the void. He'll put on a March 3 rap-meets-porn event called "Fantasies" at the Royal Palace in El Cajon. Wasted says porn stars such as Stormy Daniels and Jenna Presley will be on hand to meet the crowd. MC Ron Jeremy will do some comedy. Local hip-hop artists Cricket, the BLGZ, Young Sicc, and Sky Tower Click will perform. Nasty O points out that the marriage of porn and rap isn't new.

"Snoop Dogg and G Unit, they all have their own porn companies. Snoop has Doggie Style Pictures. G Unit put out a DVD called Groupie Love. A lot of the lyrics are explicit. A lot of the music videos have sexual themes."

Nasty O says Sky Tower Click is not a typical SD rap group. "Two of us are black and two are Hispanic. We're from Southeast and the South Bay, two areas that usually don't get along."

Phil Wasted says the Fantasies show is for anyone over 18. "Nothing inappropriate will be done. There is a no-touch ordinance." Tickets cost between $30 and $80.
