Dane Scott, Lead Singer of Tubby

Dane Scott, lead singer of Tubby, got a rude surprise when he returned with his band at 5 a.m. on March 11 to the parking lot adjacent to the Mission Beach roller coaster. "There were probably ten cars towed," including theirs.

The cars belonged to those who went to see Tubby and fellow local bands the Friday Band and the Dateless Losers play the Lighthouse Café in Hermosa Beach.

"It was $250 to get our cars back right then, $184 if we waited later in the day. We paid a limo bus driver an extra $80 to take us home that morning."

Tubby appears tonight at Longboards in Pacific Beach at 9 p.m., $3 cover, must be 21; and next Friday, 9 p.m., at the Coaster Saloon, free, must be 21.
