Cordless Radio Headsets that Retail for $1100

Cordless radio headsets that retail for $1100 from Muzak (located on Chesapeake Drive in San Diego) have been popping up on eBay, according to a grand theft report (#05-005711) filed by San Diego police officer R. Schenkelberg.

Muzak general manager James Thimmes "became aware of what he believes to be employee theft," states Schenkelberg. Thimmes got a call from a pal in Houston who "said he had just bought a radio headset exactly like the one Muzak sells." Thimmes's friend checked a hidden serial number, and it matched one that was supposed to be in Thimmes's inventory.

According to the report, "Thimmes did more checking and discovered about 200 of these headsets were missing."

"This eBay seller account is ekin_s13," reports Schenkelberg. "He has been an eBay seller since 12-19-01."

A subpoena is in the process of being delivered to eBay. Checking the site, it shows that ekin_s13's account is still active, has sold several of the C1060 headsets in the $200 range, and as of March 1 won auctions for a leather steering wheel to a Nissan Pathfinder and a box of Pria chocolate "peanut crunch" diet bars
