The Mission Hills residential area south of Washington to about Chalmers or Vine is sometimes referred to as "Five Points." Is Five Points technically part of Mission Hills or just an informal name for the less-affluent li'l bastard child of Mission Hills?

Five Points is another old S.D. nabe killed by the freeway. The commercial heart of the area was roughly where Washington meets I-5. It was the intersection of five roads that are now either renamed or gone. In the '20s and '30s, it was a thriving community of small businesses, including the office of the Automobile Club. Never was part of Mission Hills, isn't now. In fact if you live in the area, you live in what is now officially Uptown. It's only called "South Mission Hills" in the real estate ads.
