Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro at Oceanside Pier Sept 22

Developed as a celebration of female strength and empowerment, the Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro platform has grown into a series of four festivals centered around providing social, athletic, cultural, educational, business, and entertainment opportunities for young women in areas where they are traditionally underrepresented. The Oceanside event music bill includes Sean Kingston, Aloe Blacc, and Bea Mille.

Sitting On Stacy at Cape Rey Sept 23

With the collaborative help of Fat Mike of NOFX, ska-flavored rockers Sitting On Stacy recently released a new single, “Baby Girl,” the first song off of their upcoming third album. They’ll tour through fall as well as performing the Levitation festival in Austin, Texas. They play September 23 at Carlsbad’s Cape Rey Hilton Resort, supporting Mustard Service.

Founded in 2018, Whiskey & Burlap plays Americana, bluegrass, country, and folk music. The band has performed at local venues such as Nate’s Garden Grill, and Winstons in Ocean Beach. Their debut album won Best Folk/Acoustic Album at 2022 San Diego Music Awards. The release party for their sophomore full-length, Questioning Why, happens September 23 in Linda Vista.

Adams Avenue Street Festival at Kensington & Normal Heights Sept 23 and 24

Celebrating its 41st year, the Adams Avenue Street Fair has expanded, the event now has 10 blocks in which to feature its 75 musical acts, set to perform on seven stages. Performers include Lucy’s Fur Coat, Big Sandy and  His Fly-Rite Boys, Bay Area punk-rockers The Avengers, Earl Thomas and The Gospel Ambassadors, The Creepy Creeps, Blame Betty, bi-national cumbia banda La Diabla, Oregon rockers Beyond the Lamplight, Arizona funk-punk band Shooda Shook It, and DJ Nu-Mark.

Tim Flannery & the Lunatic Fringe at the Belly Up Sept 26

Tim Flannery is a former San Diego Padre and a longtime local musician. The son of a Kentucky preacher man plays an acoustic blend of folk and country music. Tim Flannery & The Lunatic Fringe released an album called Waiting On a Miracle in September 2022, dealing with his bout with staph infection, sepsis, double-pneumonia, and bladder failure.
