Newly declared Senate candidate seeks to memory hole San Diego affiliation

Last week, former Major League Baseball star Steve Garvey, who played four seasons with the San Diego Padres after 14 years with the Los Angeles Dodgers, entered the race for the U.S. Senate Seat vacated by the late Dianne Feinstein. Soon after his public announcement, SD on the QT received this private correspondence from Garvey: “Look, I won a World Series with the Dodgers back in ’81. I won the National League MVP award with the Dodgers back in ’74. Sure, I was a two-time All-Star during my twilight stint with the Padres, and even the NLCS MVP in ’84. But I’m looking to win a hotly contested race here, and I don’t think I need to tell you that when people think San Diego Padres, they don’t think ‘winner.’ Not after last season. So maybe let’s keep the whole Padre thing out of the headlines, okay?”
